Cincy4Ukraine Advocates for Ukraine at the Ukrainian Summit Action 2025
This spring, Cincy4Ukraine proudly participated in the Ukrainian Summit Action 2025 in Washington, D.C., joining advocates from across the United States to raise awareness about Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine and to encourage meaningful legislative action in support of the Ukrainian people.
Our mission was clear: to meet directly with members of Congress and their staff to advocate for legislation that strengthens Ukraine’s ability to defend its freedom while reinforcing democratic values, international security, and the strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine.
The summit began with an intensive advocacy training that prepared participants to effectively communicate the key policy priorities during meetings on Capitol Hill. Together, we focused on four essential messages:
- Peace must be lasting and just—not temporary or achieved at the expense of Ukraine’s sovereignty.
- Russia must be held financially accountable through the confiscation of frozen Russian sovereign assets.
- Ukraine’s internationally recognized territories must be fully liberated from Russian occupation.
- Russia must return the thousands of Ukrainian children who have been unlawfully abducted during the war.
Among these issues, the forced deportation and abduction of Ukrainian children resonated most deeply during our conversations with lawmakers. Thousands of children have been separated from their families and subjected to forced assimilation and re-education in Russia. This humanitarian tragedy remains one of the most urgent human rights issues of the war.
This concern has been recognized by leaders on both sides of the political aisle. During our first participation in the Ukrainian Summit in the fall of 2023, Senator JD Vance also expressed concern about the fate of Ukraine’s abducted children, highlighting the importance of bringing international attention to this issue.
Advocacy is built on relationships and persistence. Every meeting, every conversation, and every personal story shared with elected officials helps keep Ukraine’s struggle for freedom at the forefront of public policy discussions. While progress often takes time, continued engagement ensures these critical issues are not forgotten.
