We recently had the privilege of attending the Ukrainian Summit organized by the American Coalition for Ukraine and Razom for Ukraine. Held on October 23, 2023, in Washington DC, this summit aimed to address ongoing efforts to support Ukraine and explore pathways towards ending the conflict in the region.
The event brought together a diverse array of individuals and organizations, all eager to contribute to the discussion, pose questions, and voice their concerns regarding the situation in Ukraine.
During the summit, we embarked on a series of drop-in visits to the offices of U.S. representatives. Our goal was to advocate for the passage of supplemental funding bills for Ukraine. Divided by states, each group had scheduled meetings with their respective representatives. On Tuesday, we had productive discussions with Representative Greg Landsman (District 1) and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio. While we were unable to meet with Senator JD Vance in person, engaging with his National Security Advisor, Andy Baker, proved to be fruitful.
As a pleasant surprise on our journey back, we had the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Cincinnati, Aftab Pureval, at the gate before boarding our flight.
Participating in this summit for the first time was an enlightening experience for us. We eagerly anticipate the involvement of more Cincinnati-based organizations in future editions of the event.
